Rain has been on everyone's mind as the summer storms seem to be setting up over the New Iberia area on repeat this week! But that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy your summer break with the kids. If there is no lighting or thunder, get outside and play in the rain with them! I promise you will enjoy a foot-stomping dance with the kids in a summer rain shower. We all need to let loose a bit sometimes, especially as parents.
I would like to publicly congratulate all of the seniors from the Iberia Parish 4-H Program who are participating in their final 4-H University this week on the LSU Campus in Baton Rouge. All of these kids have been involved in the Iberia Parish 4-H Program for several years. May all of their goals and dreams come to fruition as they become the next generation of leaders for our community.
Both of my daughters graduated this year and are attending their one of their last events as a member of the Iberia Parish 4-H program, and I am on my way to being an empty nester. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, as it honestly hasn't really set in yet. But I can tell you, I'll be digging into my experience of being a parent and using that to help fuel our edition of Macaroni KID for the new parents and those with young children still at home.
Mommas, make sure you hug your littles a bit extra for all of us who are sending our kiddos off to college this year. It flies by way to fast.

This weekend event will host several activities for the entire community to enjoy, from live music to cooking competitions and more.
