Hello May!
May is a huge month for me personally but also for so many families in our area. We are celebrating so many special events like Mother's Day, Teacher's Appreciation Week, graduations, baptisms, and much more. But for me it's not only my birthday this month, but it's also my Macaroni KID anniversary!
I became the Owner, Publisher and Editor of Macaroni KID New Iberia, Abbeville Breaux Bridge on May 17, 2021. I have learned, grown, and truly fallen in love with the cities and towns I cover. I am excited to continue to push content that supports the small businesses and organizations in our area while highlighting the resources and support that families in our area are searching for.

1. Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival - Parc Hardy
Friday, May 2, 2025 through Sunday, May 4, 2025
Enjoy three stages of music, boiled crawfish and other dishes, and plenty of fun all weekend at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival this May at Parc Hardy in Breaux Bridge! This three day festival brings locals and tourists alike, together for the pure love of Cajun culture, music, and food. Shop with local arts and crafts vendors, enjoy Cajun dance lessons, enjoy games and carnival rides, dance contests, a crawfish eating contest, cook-offs and so much more!
2. May Fest @ Vermilion Catholic - Abbeville

The festival runs for two days during the first weekend of May, beginning on Friday, May 2, 2025. Bring the family out to enjoy games, live music, cake bingo, fun jumps, vendor booths, and more.
3. Bayou Side 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run - New Iberia

May is nationally recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month and this event offers not only a safe space to share personal stories but bring awareness to the resources that are available to the community. Gather your teams, family, friends or go solo but be sure to come out and support the event. Even if you're not part of the race, come out to Bouligny Plaza and cheer on the runners, walkers, and support the community.
4. Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival - Downtown Franklin

Downtown Franklin will be the place to be this Saturday with several events in one location. First the annual Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival is back with educational and fun activities for the entire family as well as live music, a 5K Walk/Run, children's games and activities, and more! The Bayou to Main Market Place will also be taking place throughout downtown with for shopping.
And new this year, The Cajun Greek's 1st Annual Cast Iron Cook Off will also being taking place during The Black Bear Festival with teams set up near the Blevins Building on Main Street in downtown Franklin. Cheer on the contestants and enjoy samples.
5. Mother's Day Trinket Box Craft (Ages 8-10) Main Branch - Iberia Parish Library
